May 17th’s junior prom is just around the corner, and you know what that means: Orange spray tans, heavy makeup, crying over dates, and finding that perfect dress before someone else does. It’s time to get ready for the 2019 Scituate High School Junior Prom.

Each year, prom styles change from colors, patterns, to types of dresses. This year, the junior girls have swayed away from the sparkles and glitter and gravitated toward simple, elegant gowns. You will see more form-fitting, leg slits, flowery, two-piece style dresses. The most popular dress colors this year are red, green, yellow, and navy. With over 90 dresses posted on the Instagram prom account, all dresses are different and unique to each girl’s style.

Some of the most popular stores this year were Lulus, Port Cargo, David’s Bridal, Frugal Fannies, and Glitterati. For hair and makeup, salons are filling up fast. Favorite places for appointments include Salon TAG, Pretty Bar Bridal & Beauty Boutique, Rudolph Adamo, Earthtone Salon, and other local artists.

From the stress of scheduling makeup and hair appointments to finding a prom date, junior girls are eager to post their dresses to the SHS Prom 2019 Instagram account.

We turned to some junior girls whose dresses nearly blew us away. You will be amazed when seeing SHS juniors Sarah Lincoln, Willow Golden, and Skyler Sandner walking down the promenade.

Lincoln looks beautiful in her stunning yellow dress, a color, and style different than most of the dresses you will see. Purchasing her dress from Ultimate Women’s Apparel, Lincoln said she knew what she wanted and felt confident selecting yellow as the best pick: “When asking people for suggestions, every one of my friends said they could only see me in yellow. I just wanted something that I thought suited my persona,” said Lincoln. Clearly, her bright, happy personality matches her dress. Lincoln’s smile, as well as her dress, will undoubtedly light up the promenade.

Skyler Sandner’s beautiful, pink, floral dress also fits her charming personality. Sandner, who purchased her dress from David’s Bridal, said, “I really loved the floral prints with the navy blue. I love the reds and pinks in the flowers and how they look against the navy blue.” Sandner is eager to wear her gorgeous dress at prom while making lifelong memories with her friends.

Willow Golden will turn heads in her light blue dress from The Ultimate in Dedham. Golden’s dress fits her sparkling, bright personality. She said, “Blue is one of my favorite colors, and when I tried on the dress, I decided I like the color.” Golden’s friends agreed, admitting they are excited to get all dressed up and take pictures with her as they dance the night away.

Prom is a night to remember. With all the stresses of prom, the night will make it all worth it. “I feel like prom is a sign of relief as the junior year comes to a close and we prepare to look and think about our future,” said Syler Sandner. One day, kids will be looking at their parents dress from the SHS 2019 junior prom and think “that’s ugly.” For now, in 2019 these dresses are gorgeous, and it will be an exciting night seeing girls showing them off on the promenade.
