High school stress is bound to happen, and with students having more than just academics to focus on, it is often difficult for each student to find their niche on how to prioritize their time. Each grade has their priorities and events to look forward to as semester two rolls around, but how exactly are students in each grade spending their time after school?
For the freshman, 35% of the students engage in a sport activity directly after school, while 48% of sophomores and 37% of juniors are relaxing after school, and 44% of the seniors are either going to work, or doing a sport. Just because homework isn’t the first things all of the SHS students are doing after school, doesn’t mean that they aren’t doing it. The most popular times for homework for all four grades falls anywhere from 2 to 6 pm.
When asked how long the students spent on their homework, the results were very similar. 40% of freshman, 32% of sophomores, 43% of juniors, and 37% of seniors said that on average, they were spending at least two hours each night on homework. While none of the surveyed sophomores or seniors admitted to never doing their homework, 3% of the freshman, and 5% of the juniors admitted to never doing their homework.
Despite the other factors that may come up in a Scituate High School students everyday life, such as work, and sports, it seems that schoolwork is a priority amongst the majority of the students. The students at Scituate High School seem to learn how to manage their time effectively as they progress over the years. Just because a student might face a plethora of distractions day to day, doesn’t mean that school gets pushed back.
