There’s nothing better on a hot day than going for ice cream, and with the diverse and multiple amounts of ice cream shops in Scituate, there are always options. Ice cream is always a good choice when you’re hungry or just looking for something to do.
The newest shop is Nona’s which is a big hit and always has a line, is thick and creamy because it is home churned and is located in a perfect spot in the harbor. A kid’s ice cream is $2.65 and the large is $4.70, and for a waffle cone just adds .80 cents to cost of whatever size you want.
Also in Scituate Harbor, Dribbles is classic and well known around Scituate. In its cute little drive by spot, it is perfect to grab some scoops and if you want sit on the benches and tables they have to side and enjoy the pretty views of the harbor. Sophomore Oriana McDonough said that dribbles, “is the best in Scituate because it has new flavors like the slush splash which is a slush puppy mixed with soft serve ice cream, and it feels very homey.” Dribbles is also cheaper than Nona’s with the kids being $2.20 and the large is $3.95.
The last major hit for ice cream in Scituate is Wilbur’s North located in North Scituate. This place has been around forever and almost everyone can remember coming with their parents after a little league game or soccer game. Although Wilbur’s was a part of most Scituate kids’ childhood memory for most, Sophomore Corey Murray said, “Wilbur’s was good in the elementary schools days until it was re-bought and the they re-painted the mural.” Wilbur’s price range is in the middle with a kids being $2.49 but they do have an array of ice cream choices that is much larger than the other ice cream places, but it still seems to be the less popular hot spot for ice cream.
No matter what part of Scituate you’re in, you’re never too far from an ice cream shop, which is obviously a blessing and a curse. But what about when you are parked on the beach and really don’t want to go to the car lose your spot and get your car all dirty, that is why junior Keegan True said, “I love the ice cream truck, my favorite thing is the chocolate taco, its cheap and convenient”
Besides for having a refreshing treat, junior Billy Canfield says that he loves having the ice cream places because, “Taking girls out to ice cream is how I pick up all the ladies” So apparently all the ice cream places in Scituate are perfect for families, friends, and a place to spark true love. This summer make sure to try all the places around Scituate and chose which one is your favorite.
