How What You Wear Impacts You That Day

Psychology studies say that dressing better makes your mind think differently. Supposedly the better you dress the smarter you feel. But do SHS students feel the same? When asking a few students, the results were different than the psychology reports, “When dressed comfy I feel more relaxed and in a better environment for when I do work”. However, students also point out that they, “agree that you do better work when dressed nice”. Walking through the halls the typical student is dressed down and in their comfiest apparel. When asked why Adriana Cawley said, “When dressed comfy I feel more relaxed and in a better environment for when I do work. When I’m dressed nicely I feel out of place and awkward, but if everybody else dressed nicely I feel more relaxed”. Students are impacted by how they dress whether they realize it or not. Noelle Hayes said, “I dress nice because it makes me feel more put together and confident. It’s something I have control over and motivates me to get ready in the morning,”. Dressing nice has shown to improve your brain activity whereas when dressing in comfortable clothing your brain is relaxed. It’s time for students to start thinking, are you dressing the way you should be?
