The Collective Co. Brings New Energy to North Scituate

In recent years, North Scituate has struggled to attract new businesses. However, there is new life this spring: Local entrepreneur Rachael Meyers has opened The Collective Co., a workspace designed for women. Located at 400 Gannett Road, The Collective Co. offers a professional space for women to come together and work.

“I was working in a corporate job, which I eventually transitioned into part-time at that job and was working from home,” says Meyers. “I really missed having my own space and being able to bounce ideas off other people. I eventually became a full-time stay-at-home mom, and when I started my own graphic design and branding business I was working during any time I could when my kids didn’t need my attention.”

Recalling her original inspiration, Meyers said, “I really craved a space I could go and meet with other people and have a professional meeting.” Noting the challenges of working without a dedicated office space, Meyers added, “I was going to coffee shops and wherever I could find a seat, which was a little tough.”

The Collective Co. has several different memberships. The first is a co-working membership, which provides a first-come-first-served seating basis. The space has many large and small tables, booths, and seating areas to choose from. Full-time memberships include full access, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and part-time offers 10 days a month. Additionally, there is a weekly membership, which offers one day a week. The Collective Co. also offers dedicated private offices and desks, which gives members the ability to leave their work supplies at the end of the day.

“I wanted a space that people could use for their own things. It was really important for me to have a space that not only people could use for co-working, but could also be used to be rented out and used to host workshops, photoshoots, and more,” explained Meyers.

Meyers is hoping that creatives and other organizations will be able to rent out the space to hold workshops and group activities. All their rental information is on their website, plus members get 30% off all rental pricing. Meyers also plans to hold classes and workshops about topics such as creating a business plan and financing, highlighting all the things she learned from her experience opening her business. The Collective Co. also hosts a podcast that features stories from local entrepreneurs.

“No dream is too far-fetched,” said Meyers. “Starting at point and learning what you love to do is the perfect place to start,” giving words of encouragement to anyone out there thinking of starting their own business.
