SHS Welcomes Kelly Trayers Back to SHS
2017 Grad Returns as Member of the Faculty
November 17, 2021
Kelly Trayers, an alumna of SHS, is excited to return to Scituate High School–but this time, as a teacher. As a new addition to the freshman world history staff for the 2021-2022 academic year, Trayers is eager to make a successful contribution to the school and build long-lasting relationships with her students. Trayers’ enthusiastic, energetic, and friendly attitude is an immense asset to the SHS community.
After graduating from Scituate High School in 2017, Trayers attended Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, where she majored in secondary education in history. Trayers has always been fascinated with social studies and credits her time at SHS for pushing her interests in the field. History initially captured Trayers’ attention as she feels it is “one big story with twists and turns.” She is especially fascinated with the Russian Revolution and is eager to teach her freshman students about this subject.
Trayers believes her experience as a past student of Scituate High School will help her become a better teacher, as she feels “very well connected to what it’s like to be a student” and can use this to create strong bonds. As a first-year teacher, Trayers’s main goals are to “get to know [her] students and learn how to become a better teacher from [her] coworkers.” While balancing her responsibilities to her new students and completing an abundance of grading, Trayers has a goal of maintaining good time management this year.
As an added bonus, Trayers gets the special opportunity to share her experiences at school with her younger sister, Devyn Trayers, who is a member of the class of 2022. With the help of her sister, other faculty members, and students, Trayers is hoping to make a positive impact on the school community.
