Friendly staff, all-day breakfast, and a charming atmosphere make the Corner Cafe a perfect place to take siblings home from college or family visiting from out of town.
Located in the heart of Marshfield, the Corner Cafe may look unassuming from the outside, but from the moment we walked inside, we were hit with welcoming smiles and a beautifully renovated space. The vast windows provided bright, sunny lighting, and the relaxing music (such as Phoebe Bridgers and the Lumineers) created a pleasant ambiance–the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon or early morning.
This quaint family-owned cafe is open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM every day except Tuesdays when it is closed. Offering all-day breakfast, diverse lunch options, and an exciting drink menu, the Corner Cafe welcomes food lovers across the South Shore. For fans of seasonal items, the restaurant boasts many unique options ranging from pumpkin and apple flavors in the fall to snowman pancakes in the winter.
We spoke to Matt Manfredi, who works at the Corner Cafe, and he noted the impact of the restaurant’s renovation: “Two years ago, we renovated, and it made a huge difference.” The restaurant, almost doubling in size, can now “accommodate more people than ever before.”
Manifredi also highlighted the expansive menu and its offers, saying, “There’s something on it for everyone.”
In fact, after settling into our cozy breakfast nook, the decisions about what to order seemed endless. From pancakes to California egg wraps, chili breakfast burritos, and many different types of French toast choices, the menu provides breakfast or lunch options for everyone.
Sophie’s Pick:
Although difficult to choose, it came down to cinnamon bun French toast, which I really enjoyed. It’s something that neither Melissa nor Lizzie had ever thought of before. With two pieces of fluffy bread with cinnamon spread infused in the bread, this choice is perfect for a cold day.
Melissa’s Pick:
Seasonal menu items draw many people into the Corner Cafe. After reviewing the menu, I selected pumpkin bread French toast. Pumpkin has always been one of my favorite flavors, and the French toast did not disappoint. Soft pillowy slices of pumpkin bread spread with butter and finished with a sprinkling of powdered sugar gave the dish a delicious twist.
Lizzie’s Pick:
I decided to return to my childhood roots and order the Mickey Mouse pancakes–with chocolate chips, of course. While a simple choice, it never disappoints, and the Corner Cafe pulled through with this classic favorite!
The food was certainly delicious; however, some students may be surprised by the prices. Our three breakfasts rang up to almost $40. If you are looking for a cheap breakfast, this may not be the place for you, but the quality of the food and atmosphere at the Corner Cafe make it our new favorite breakfast spot.
