In a small, quaint town like Scituate, news travels fast, and with new tasty treats in town, word got around fast. The latest buzz has been the new frozen yogurt shop Creyo, located in Scituate Harbor where customers can make their own treat and top it with whatever they desire. Creyo is the first of its kind in Scituate, where mostly small local and independent businesses fill the town.
Unlike normal ice cream shops, Creyo offers many different flavors of frozen yogurt, but all are healthier than something you might get at a regular ice cream shop. Creyo is also different and fun because you are allowed to make your own treat, deciding the amount of frozen yogurt you want. It allows you to become a topping artist and create your own dessert masterpiece. With a counter filled with different candy, fruit, syrups, the number of combinations you can create is endless,
The payment method is also different in Creyo compared to the normal ice cream shops in Scituate. Instead of one price for a certain flavor, size and toppings, your personal ice cream has it’s own personal price that goes by weight. So when you’re done making your treat you place it on a scale and the cashier tells you how much it is. So you spend as little or as much as you want.
One of the store owners at Creyo, Kosta Haveles, is a man who has worked and is still working hard to make sure his business is as successful and prosperous as it can be. With Creyo being a family-run establishment, all the employees are close and work hard, long hours to make sure things run smoothly and they always seem to have smiles on their faces. In Marshfield, the only other Creyo is located and business is good and they have intertwined what they do with the activities of the town of Marshfield. For example, the owners and employees of Creyo stayed open late, after a Marshfield homecoming and all the kids went to Creyo after the dance, parents and kids loved it. They like to make Creyo a welcoming environment for all ages and truly enjoy getting to know the citizens of Scituate. Mr. Haveles said, “We would like to become part of the Scituate community as soon as possible.”
It is not just the great personalities of the employees that lure customers to Creyo, but also the rich taste of the ice cream offered. Mr. Haveles explained that all the ingredients used are real and the froyo contains fewer preservatives than other competing frozen yogurt places. Mr. Haveles traveled to Arkansas to Honey Hill Farm making sure that the yogurt was made and making sure that it was being made the right and healthy way.
Along with many others, senior Kiara Roffo said, “I like Creyo. I usually don’t enjoy frozen yogurt but I love having Creyo here in Scituate. It just tastes better.”
