November Food Drive

The annual November Food Drive was run by Scituate High School’s Student Council. The drive worked to gather donations for the Scituate Food Pantry, raising a total of over 1,000 food items. Every year the school comes together to give food to those in need in our community.

Student Council put boxes in each homeroom for donations from students. This year, the homeroom to collect the most donations won a free Panera breakfast during a late start Wednesday. Mr. Maguire’s homeroom went above and beyond with the amount of food they collected, accomplishing a landslide victory. “We are grateful for homerooms like Mr. Maguire’s who donated almost one thousand items,” said Student Council Vice President, senior Kate Montgomery.

The Student Council pools all the food together and brings it to the Scituate Food Pantry. “They are always super grateful for the school’s donations,” added Montgomery.

Scituate High School students and members of the Student Council have worked hard over the past month to help make the lives of Scituate residents a little easier during the holiday season. “A lot more families than people think benefit from the food pantry every year,” said the Student Council President, senior Emma Preuss.

This month’s food drive wasn’t as successful as years past, raising only half the usual amount, so there is a possibility of another food drive in the spring. Preuss urges students to “donate to your local food pantry!”
