A Pricey Prom

Senior Kat English Hair Styled at Salon Taj Prom 2018

Kat English and Colleen Quinn

Spray tans, updos, makeup, dresses, and dates–all important aspects of making one of the most memorable nights of high school: prom. Even though it is only January, some junior girls have already started booking their hair and makeup appointments with local establishments around Scituate and Cohasset. After investigating local salons, prices of hair and makeup are focused within a range of about $50 to $75.

Some junior girls are already taking quick action and booking their hair and makeup appointments to ensure a coveted spot at a salon. Junior triplets Erin, Megan, and Shannon Logan have planned their appointments together at Earth Tones, which appears to be a popular spot this year. Another junior, Brigid Bonner, has snatched a spot at Danielle’s Pretty Bar inside Vinette Day Spa, where she is also getting her hair styled. Bonner chose this salon based on previous experience where she “really liked” how everything was done. Many juniors with appointments already planned are heading to Rudolph Adamo in the Harbor. Senior girls recommend scheduling appointments for prom night “sooner rather than later” because all the local salons will be quickly filled.

The tradition of all prom attendees being able to leave school early–at the start of H block–in order to get ready with their hair and makeup appointments will continue this year. Consider your early dismissal when planning your pre-prom appointments!
