Gift-giving season is underway for the Class of 2028 at Scituate High School. Starting Tuesday, December 17th, every freshman will receive an unexpected surprise–a brand new school-issued Chromebook to help support them during their academic years at SHS.
Freshmen are very excited, as they have used their current Chromebooks since the sixth grade. The updated devices are being issued to ensure these students have reliable technology for their high school years.
Freshman Cate Coogan exclaimed, “I can’t wait for this new change!” As the freshmen count down the days until they receive their new devices, they recounted frustrating challenges with their current devices. These include cameras and microphones that don’t function properly and screens that have been replaced. “The screen quality is bad,” explained freshman Piper Levirne.
In anticipation of the Chromebook update, SHS freshman Robert Naylor said if he could change one thing about his Chromebook, he would wish for “bigger keys on the keyboard.” Naylor is excited to see how the updated Chromebooks fit his needs as a high school student.
Although most freshmen are looking forward to the Chromebook refresh, a new policy restricting students from decorating their devices with stickers was not well received. “Are we in Moscow?” asked freshman Beckett Downing.
