Apple created a new software called iOS 7 for the iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, 4S, 4, first and second generation of iPads, and fifth generation iPod. With a completely redesigned interface and new capabilities, iOS 7 is a must have for all Apple users.
The company has changed default icons on the home screen, including the calendar, photo, camera, and weather apps, all with a more sleek and unique look. The colors pop, and even though many argue they look childlike, they add individuality to the Apple brand. A three dimensional effect has been added to the home and screen when the device is tilted which is yet another different and exclusive feature of the new iOS 7 software.
The photo capabilities have been enhanced as well. Eight filters including “Mono”, “Tonal”, and “Fade” allow for photographers to increase the quality of their photos. A new “Square” feature was also included in the new software and helps photographers frame photos with a smaller window to take pictures.
One of the most beneficial details that Apple included was the new “iTunes Radio” feature. Similar to Pandora, listeners are able to choose their own stations based off of their preferred artists and music styles. With minimal commercials in between songs and the ability to skip songs that users don’t want to listen to, iTunes Radio will rival Pandora and increases music capabilities on Apple products.
With the flick of a finger, another feature that increases the easiness to use iPhones, iPods, and iPads can be accessed. By sliding your finger from the bottom screen towards the top, a screen appears and covers three fourths of the home page. On this screen, airplane mode can be turned on and off, the brightness and music can be changed, the camera and calculator can be easily accessed, a flashlight using the flash feature on the camera can be turned on, and a lot more. The screen lets users conveniently change settings on their phones that- on iOS 6- were previously hard to adjust.
The new “Air Drop” feature can also be turned on and off on the new screen. Air Drop is a component of iOS 7 that lets iPhone, iPod, and iPad users quickly share pictures, videos, and contacts. It uses Bluetooth to scan for Apple devices that are nearby, but you can adjust it to send and receive pictures, videos, and contacts from everyone who has the feature, or just your features. Of course if you don’t want to use Air Drop you can turn it off completely.
With a simple and efficient design, iOS 7 is a software that all Apple users need to download. Photos are improved, new musical touches are included, basic capabilities can be pulled up instantly, and information can be shared directly between devices.
