SHS Thanksgiving Day Game 2022

Kelly Granatino, Editor-in-Chief

Thanksgiving Day football games are a national tradition. This year, many local families will finish their holiday meal in time to watch the New England Patriots play the Minnesota Vikings at 8:20 PM. More locally, a long-standing rivalry between the Scituate Sailors and the Hingham Harbormen will be played out in the morning: This highly anticipated football game will take place at 10:00 AM at Scituate High School.

Scituate and Hingham appear to be evenly matched: The Sailors have a 4-5 record, and the Harbormen have a 6-5 record. In recent years, Hingham won the 2021 Thanksgiving game, and Scituate won the 2019 game. Both teams are going into this year’s game with a competitive spirit.

On Thursday, November 24th, Scituate will host the Harbormen at 10:00 AM. Though the game is held on a national holiday, the Scituate and Hingham communities traditionally present strong support, so spectators may want to arrive early for the best seats. SHS senior Braeden Killeen is “excited to go to the last high school football game,” but he expects to return in future years to support the Sailors when he’s home during college breaks.
