As many Scituation readers know, the first few weeks of Fantasy Football have ended. Here are a few takeaways for hardworking fantasy owners out there:
Some advice: Don’t stress if your team has suffered its first loss. There are still many weeks left and a major amount of time for change, trades, and waiver pick-ups. Anything can happen throughout the year, so there is no need to stress.
SHS senior Roman Glowac, a heavily experienced fantasy owner, reflected on his first weeks coming to an end. With a notable frown, he commented, “My whole team busted. I had three wide receivers go under five points–Travis Kelce under seven.”
Banking on Kelce, Glowac was extremely disappointed to see him go under 10 points in week one. Last season, Kelse was a game-changer for many owners, and after a slow week for the defending Super Bowl champion, many are questioning if his costly pick was truly worth it. The second greatest tight end, behind the one and only Rob Gronkowski, has recently been going viral for his relationship with the popular music artist Taylor Swift. However, many analysts have argued his romantic relationship has distracted him from his game, thus resulting in a poor week.
When asked about must-starts, Glowac responded, “Breece Hall is due for a big week and to keep riding on Diggs.” Glowac ended by wishing fantasy owners the best of luck for the rest of the season and staying strong when facing adversity with injuries.
Some other notable breakouts include Alvin Kamara, who put up a league-high score of 44 points—racking in four touchdowns in the blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys. This productive running back remained under the radar pre-season with many owners taking RBs like Breece Hall and Bijan Robinson over the veteran.
SHS students are known for devising creative consequences for the loser of each league–these can include running laps, creating humorous TikTok videos, or wearing funny costumes to school.
Lastly, senior soccer player Owen Hofford shared some advice for students looking to join a league or start one of their own: “You want to draft players who have been in the league and that you trust.” Hofford added, “Stay away from young quarterbacks and overhyped players.”
