Entering her final year at SHS, senior Bailey Young (she/her) hopes to bring a new perspective to The Scituation as a Business Editor. With her “nose for news,” Young is excited to be a role model and help her classmates succeed as staff writers. She has previously taken Intro to Journalism and has been a part of the Journalism Club since her sophomore year, making her a distinguished leadership team member. 

Known for being an ambitious, passionate, and creative student, Young is active in her community, as she is a part of DECA, Finance Club, the Co-Founder of the Women’s Business Association, Spanish Exchange, and Journalism Club. She is also the captain of the SHS gymnastics team and has been on the team all four years of high school. Young is the co-host of “Scituate Style” on The Scituation Instagram. Some of Young’s favorite classes throughout SHS have been math, specifically calculus, English because of her love for writing, and Spanish. Young has also excelled throughout all her classes, qualifying for the National Honor Society, Business Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and the Seal of Biliteracy. She has also received an Underclassman Award from her business teachers for her exceptional performance in DECA and an Underclassman Award from her English teacher.

Looking toward her future, Young plans to attend college and major in either marketing or finance. Continuing her interests in Spanish and Journalism, she hopes to minor in one of these areas. For her senior year, Young hopes to make it to DECA ICDC for the second time in her high school career and to cherish special moments with the people in her graduating class.
