Billy Bernier, Staff Writer
Senior Billy Bernier (he/him) is an outstanding and personable student with a passion for storytelling. As an incredibly active member of the SHS community, Bernier plays on the boys' varsity football team, where his positive attitude, talent, and morale keep the team running successfully. Entering his first year with The Scituation, Billy is continuing his family legacy of writing for the school paper, as both his older siblings were student journalists during their time at SHS.
Bernier made his Scituation debut last year with his iconic story, “The Crowd Goes Mild,” when he demonstrated his incredible talent for writing. He plans to continue with his passions for history, psychology, business, and journalism in the future, as he plans to attend a respectable college and hopes to find an enjoyable career path for himself. Academically speaking, Bernier’s resume is beyond impressive, as he’s a member of both the Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society. He also took home 1st place in the districts for DECA. Talents aside, California-born Billy is a friendly face at SHS and utilizes his strong sense of humor to brighten the days of his classmates.
This year, Bernier’s goal is to craft useful and interesting stories that people in the community will find worthwhile. Hoping to make The Scituation a more valued sector of life at SHS, Bernier plans to emphasize the student's voice and make the newspaper a place to find full coverage on events surrounding the school and community. The 2021-2022 journalism team is overjoyed to have Bernier's sociable energy and enthusiasm on The Scituation this year.
