Hanna Lydon , Staff Writer
SHS senior Hanna Lydon, a first-year staff writer, brings her adventurous lifestyle and lively rhetoric to The Scituation. Fulfilling her passion for current events and spot news, journalism provides the perfect fix for her investigative spirit. Hanna can be found practicing various sports--field hockey, swimming, or track. Being involved in many school activities is an understatement, as she also manages to be a two-year Real Conversations club facilitator. When she's not fulfilling her seasonal jobs, which include being a ski instructor, lifeguard, and swimming teacher, Hanna enjoys hanging out with friends and spending time at the beach. An ideal day of relaxation includes watching her two favorite shows, Gilmore Girls, and Friends, as well as a classic re-run watch of her favorite movie, The Parent Trap. Other interests of hers include a close following of politics, skiing, and volunteering. One of the highlights of Hanna's summer was her two-week long service trip to Guatemala, where she helped build a school and teach English to some of the children in the local town. Hanna said that the most memorable experience was being with the students at the school and enjoying their love and passion. Hanna also loved the relationships forged in Guatemala with other volunteers--friendships that will last a lifetime. She wants to use her experience as a volunteer to write social and political opinion articles in The Scituation, which may inspire students and Scituate community members to get involved in volunteering. When asked what her future holds, Hanna commented on her goal to attend college and to become a special education teacher. In the meantime, Hanna can't wait to start writing and she is looking forward to an exciting year to come. Hanna is already a great asset to The Scituation staff due to her unique skills as a writer, community member, and adventurous student.
