Kim Whitney, Editor-in-Chief

Finally arriving at her senior year in Scituate High School, Kim Whitney looks forward to another year with the Scituation staff, this time as Editor in Chief. Hoping to build off of her experience on the staff as the Archivist during her junior year, Whitney plans another successful year for the school’s paper with a huge staff of talented student-journalists. While Whitney’s first focus will be finishing her high school career strong, she is ecstatic about moving on to college and feels well prepared to do so. Whitney enters her senior year with a rigorous schedule of AP and honors courses. She looks forward especially to her studies on Human Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology, Human Development, and on Self, Society and Human Relationships, which will provide a fresh perspective while covering stories as a Scituation journalist. Finishing off her high school athletic career, Whitney intends to participate in girls’ basketball and spring track and field for her fourth consecutive year. If not in class or at practice, Whitney will be tutoring as a National Honors Society student and working in the Student-Mentoring Program. Over the past two summers Whitney has enjoyed her time as a lifeguard at a local pool, where she also taught swimming lessons to children aging from their infant to teenage years. Whitney also joined the Scituate Appalachia Service Project for a second year as she ventured to West Virginia to work on homes for a week. Continuing her love for travel over the past summer, Whitney spent a lot of time at AAU basketball tournaments as well as touring college campuses down much of East coast. Anticipating a school year that will fly by, Kim Whitney aims for the same memorable experience she always finds at SHS.
