Leona Breitenstein, Co-Editor-in-Chief
Entering her final year on The Scituation staff, senior Leona Breitenstein (she/her) brings a wealth of experience as a Co-Editor-in-Chief. Breitenstein took Intro to Journalism during her sophomore year (2022-2023) and Advanced Journalism last year (2023-2024). Her intense work ethic, helpful insight, and conscientious efforts have helped her become a great leader for the staff.
While Breitenstein is a well-rounded student, she demonstrates a passion for science, Spanish, and English. Her favorite classes are Honors Anatomy and Physiology and AP Biology with SHS teacher Mrs. Last. Additionally, she was inducted into the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, where she’s been honored with the Spanish Seal of Biliteracy. Talented in the arts, Breitenstein enjoys dancing competitively at Zeal Performing Arts Studio.
This year, Breitenstein hopes to encourage younger students to gain more knowledge about the news and increase involvement in the Journalism Club.
Breitenstein noted that her favorite memories at SHS are from the Spanish Exchange Trip in the Basque Region of Spain last spring.
In the future, Breitenstein plans on attending a four-year college on the East Coast, where she hopes to major in nursing or psychology, with a possible concentration in Spanish or journalism. Hoping to end her final year at SHS on a high note, she is ready to take on her classes and all the exciting events that come with being a senior.
