Sophie Blanchard, Staff Writer
With the experience of taking Introduction to Journalism, senior Sophie Blanchard is exhilarated to push her journalism skills to the next level as a staff writer for The Scituation. Known as a kind, considerate, and active student at SHS, Blanchard’s passions include history, politics, and English, leading her to find a niche with the Scituation team.
Blanchard’s involvement at SHS goes beyond just the classroom; she participates in various extracurricular activities. As an active member of the Environmental Club, the head stage manager of the Drama Club, Co-President of the History Bowl Club, and a member of the History Honor Society and Student Government, her dedication and contribution to the SHS community is impressive.
Blanchard has received numerous awards at SHS, including three SAIL awards and the French underclassman award. In the future, she hopes to attend college and take journalism classes.
Over the summer, Blanchard interned at the Massachusetts State House, where she enjoyed working in a professional environment with Representative Patrick Kearney’s team. This experience gave her an appreciation for meeting new people. She hopes to bring her curiosity into journalism by interviewing different students and sharing their stories.
