Stella Thrift, Editor-in-Chief

Senior Stella Thrift (she/her) is thrilled to join The Scituation for a second year and begin her new role as editor-in-chief. Described by her close friends as intelligent, creative, and hardworking, Thrift’s character is emphasized through her writing talent. After taking Introduction to Journalism during her sophomore year, Thrift developed a passion for journalism and decided to pursue Advanced Journalism during her junior year. After a year of working as a staff writer, Thrift is eager to take on a leadership role for The Scituation

Thrift expanded her knowledge of journalism this past summer by attending the Harvard Crimson Summer Journalism Program. Led by Harvard students, this eight-day program exposed students to the fundamentals of journalism while providing valuable insights for high school journalism. Thrift’s experience at Harvard put her in a unique position to become editor-in-chief of the high school newspaper. Her notable writing skills were also recognized when she was honored with a SAIL award.

Looking toward the future, Thrift aspires to attend a university known for its journalism program. She would also like to study overseas to broaden her education. Excited for her senior year at SHS, Thrift hopes to advance her writing skills and help teach staff writers the essential components of journalism.
