Her loud laugh, love for cats, and outgoing personality are just some of the things people recognize about senior, Erin Duffey. Erin has a number of commitments in and outside of school that make her a very well rounded person. Taking on a number of AP and Honors courses throughout her high school career, Erin has proven that hard work pays off. Despite the challenges that these strenuous classes may come with, Erin is still able to maintain an excellent academic standing.
However, Erin is not all brain; she also involves herself outside of the classroom in a number of clubs here at Scituate High School. Erin is one of the four captains of Scituate High School’s Varsity Cheerleading Team. Having been a member of the team for four years now, and participating in youth cheerleading as a child, Erin has shown a strong passion for the sport. Erin gives it her all on the sidelines every Friday night routing on the football players. Whenever Scituate scores a touchdown, Erin proudly runs a flag. Erin says that her favorite part of being on the team is “running the flag, and being a captain.” Senior, and fellow captain Shannon Mahoney says “Erin is a really good captain, everyone listens to her. She has a lot of pep, which is shown through her cheers.”
As well as participating in cheerleading, Erin also has been a part of Dance Carousel’s Ensemble Dance Team for six years now. Dance Carousel of Scituate is known for its intense Dance Team. While it is very intense, Erin says she also has a lot of fun “dressing up like a man” from time to time in various dances. Erin’s participation in cheerleading and in the dance team show that she loves to entertain.
Erin does not just dance and cheerlead she also is also part of the Student Council Executive Board, as the treasurer. As a part of the Executive Board, Erin is responsible for planning events at school such as, Pep Rallies, Powder-puff, Mr. Sailor Night and many other fun events for the Scituate High community to enjoy. Erin’s peppy attitude and determination to do well make her a great match for Student Council. Aside from Student Council, Cheerleading, Dance and many other activities Erin is also a part of the National Honors Society, proving that with all the other activities and responsibilities on her plate, Erin is able to earn above average remarks.
Whether it is in the dance studio, on the sidelines or in the classroom Erin is always excelling to the best of her abilities. Erin has certainly left her mark on Scituate High and plans on attending college for something in the science field, possibly medical research. Whatever Erin chooses, her determination and positive attitude she has gained through all heavy involvement in High School will get her far in life.
