Alcohol abuse, drug overdose and tanning. Tanning addiction is one of teens most deadly activities. Teens are putting their bodies at risk by being deep fried in the deadly UV rays of the sun all to look like they are gold.
All throughout the summer teens are tanning out in the sun and now that winter is rolling around the corner kids are losing their golden color. How do you tan in the winter without the beach weather? Tanning bed? More like a sun filled coffin. A major effect of tanning includes skin cancer. Coming from a thickly ancestry of Norwegians, I have never been able to tan and sunblock is a necessity at all times. Even with sunblock I still get sunburned all the time. Tanning has never been an option and it shouldn’t be an option for other teens either. They only safe way to tan is by spray tanning. So what if you look like an orange? If you want to have color spray tanning is the only safe way of tanning without putting your body at risk from the damage of the sun.
Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer. This cancer affects approximately two million Americans each year. Not only is it the most common of skin cancers it is the most common of all cancers. More than one out of every three new cancers are skin cancers, and the majority of the cancers are basal cell carcinomas. These cancers arise in the basal cells, which line the deepest layer of the epidermis also known as the top skin layer. This cancer is mainly caused by over exposure to the sun.
My grandfather was a healthy man who retired in Florida. He loved to play golf with his friends. Even with proper amount of sunblock the sun still got the best of him. He was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer. Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer, the cancer can advance and spread to other parts of the body, where it becomes hard to treat and can be fatal. He died after a two year battle with melanoma.
Skin cancer is dangerous and by tanning you are putting yourself in direct path of harmful UV rays. Don’t use tanning beds and make sure in the summer you cover yourself in sunblock to keep you protected from the sun.
