Ever wonder who is playing at the stoop Friday mornings? It’s the Manhattan Project: A five-man jazz group that blesses our ears every week with their musical talents.
This group is made up of musical icons in SHS. Zachary Brazao is on the alto saxophone, Ross Flieger-Allison on the tenor saxophone, Max Fenton on the trombone, while Richard Arnold and Chris Robotham play the drums and vibes, respectively. Their style ranges from Jazz to modern music.
Saxophone player, Ross Flieger-Allison, told the story of Manhattan Project: “We started late last year…Zach convinced all of us to join. Zach just wanted to jam, but we soon realized how much fun it was. After that we tried to find to gigs wherever we could to play.”
The name Manhattan Project’s name does not originate for the project of the Atomic bomb studies. When asked about the group’s name, Brazao commented by saying “It sounds cool, that’s the only reason.”
The Thursday before the first Jazz on the Stoop, crisis hit the young group. Ross was not going to be able to play the following morning on the groups opening performance at the school. Fenton said, “They called me at about 10 o ‘clock that night and said they needed another horn to play and wondered if i was interested to play. I guess they liked it because I have been a part of the band ever since then.”
With loads of talent and charisma this band is taking Scituate by storm. They are committed to give us the sweet sounds of Jazz every Friday morning.
