A kid with the golden foot in soccer, unmatched skill in wrestling and a total LAX-bro. Shane Healey is truly a Scituate sports legend.
Healey is one of Scituate’s many talented athletes. Healey is a three sport Varsity athlete, playing soccer for three years and has wrestled and played lacrosse at the varsity level for his whole high school career. Healey started on the Varsity lacrosse team as a freshman when they won the state championship and now is a captain of the lacrosse team.
Now in the dead of winter Healey is the captain of the wrestling team. Healey is having an outstanding season wrestling this year with a record of 20 wins and 8 loses. When asked about how the season was going he said, “It is going well. We don’t have a lot of guys but the season is going really well.” The wrestling team has lower numbers then it has in previous years but it has not slowed them down at all. The team is working hard to be a dominate force in the wrestling world.
Senior Bobby Sincoski and fellow wrestler commented on Healey’s leadership “He deserves to be Captain; he is the hardest worker at practices and runs the room. All in all Shane is a great captain. We would not be where we are or as successful as we would be without Shane.” Senior David Haselman also spoke about Healy’s leadership describing him as a hard worker and devoted to the team, “Shane is always willing to take the extra step, he will do anything so that the team can and will be better.” The leadership skills that this man has demonstrated are amazing. Even with a smaller, Healy and the rest of the Scituate Sailor wrestling team have been able to overcome the odds and be a force to compete with in high school wrestling. This team would not half of what they are without the Healy’s drive and determination for success.
Besides being one of Scituate’s finest athletes, Healey is also one of Scituate’s finest students and is in multiple honors and AP classes. When he is not studying or practicing his skills he is usually napping. If he can take a break from his hectic life style he enjoys the company of hanging out with his good and close friends.
Healey does not know where he wants to go to college yet. Some of his top choices are University of Massachusetts Amherst, or the University of Maryland. Weather he is playing sports, studying for class or sleeping, Shane Healey has a very bright future in front of him. Whether it is on the mat or in the library Healey are a Scituate icon and a true role model for young kids and underclassman.
