Frank Russo is an overall baller. It’s that simple. Whether the former basketball player is on the football field or has a lacrosse stick in hand he is certainly known to “ball so hard.”
There is no doubt that Russo is one of Scituate’s most prominent athletes. He is a varsity veteran as he enters his senior year on the lacrosse team, making varsity all four years. He first picked up lacrosse as a seventh grader on the sands of Minot Beach. He loves lacrosse because “it’s a good sport and [he] like[s] being part of a team.”
As the spring season arrives Russo is excited to return to the field. His keys to winning are “working hard, playing tough defense, and getting the ball in the net.” He says if everyone on the team keeps this up they will be successful this year. The lacrosse team has always been a dominant force in the spring and expectations are just as high this year.
However it is clear that in order to exceed the expectations, the team will need Russo to play a large part in their success. A teammate of Russo’s and captain of the team, senior Shane Healey said, “we have a lot of seniors this year and Frank’s going to be a leader on the team and help us with a run in the playoffs.” Healey also described his teammate as a key defender and enforcer on the field. When asked about Russo’s lacrosse career, friend since preschool and teammate J.P. Canfield said, “we see the real Frank Russo on the field, he is the heart of the team and his personality is best seen when he is playing lacrosse.”
As for the future, Russo wants to play lacrosse in college while studying business. He wishes to play both football and lacrosse in later years but he is not sure where. As for now he is a member of the Scituate lacrosse team and plays a key role. This Minot boy will be an important figure in this spring season, and his talent on the field will take him places.
