The sun is shining, the temperature is rising and the spring sports season is about to begin. All of Scituate High Schools finest athletes are preparing for the upcoming baseball, lacrosse, softball and track season.
Baseball: For baseball, junior Connor Gibbons, pitcher and first baseman is excited for the upcoming season saying, “We are considering this a retooling year. We want to be a surprise team and play hard this season.” After losing many seniors the baseball team is looking to use its young talent in the varsity level.
Softball: The team is looking to bounce back after a tough season. Sophomore Katie Albanese has high hopes for this season saying “We are looking much better than last year. We have a new Coach and a lot of young talent.
Lacrosse: Both boys and girls lacrosse teams are looking very strong this season. Sophomore goalie Jake Reynolds says “We look strong and have most of our starters returning. It should be a good year and hope to make a trip back to Harvard.” Girl’s lacrosse is also looking forward to a strong season and is hoping to make the most of their young team. Senior Erin Gerhard says “We have a lot of underclassman and we expect a lot. We know they are talented and we expect this team to go far.”
Tennis: The tennis team is looking strong, both boys and girl. Senior Drew Paganetti has high expectations for this year’s season saying “We only lost one senior last year. We also have everyone who played last year returning and we have a lot of young talent coming up the system.”
The level of excitement is very high. Student athletes are trading in there skates for cleats. As the Sailors try to make it a spring no one will forget.
